Priorities
Governance- Address budget deficits by assertively advocating to the province for increased operational and capital funding, and opposing cuts to programming that impacts students- Transparent and accessible opportunities for public engagement and feedback on SD61 decision making.- Better consultation with staff, parents, and students through improved joint committee process.- Meaningful and open engagement with the Songhees Nation, Esquimalt Nation, Métis Nation of Greater Victoria (MNGV), and Urban Peoples' House Indigenous Advisory (UPHIA).Learning- More consistent and comprehensive resources for students with diverse learning needs, including those with or without Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)- Hiring more Education Assistants (EAs) and other specialized roles, like learning support teachers and English Language Learning teachers.Inclusive- Support for Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) 123 learning guide.- Working collaboratively with staff and students to ensure resources, facilities, and programming reflects the needs, such as ensuring schools have gender neutral restrooms.
